Helping Turn a House into a Home – Loom Loft Supports CANW
At Loom Loft, we believe in the power of home — not just as a place, but as a feeling. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to have partnered with Child Action Northwest (CANW) to help furnish their first residential children’s home, supporting vulnerable young people across the region.
Founded in 1886 as the Blackburn Orphanage, CANW has grown into a lifeline for over 24,000 children, young people, and families across the Northwest. Their newest project — a dedicated residential home — is designed to offer stability, safety, and comfort for young people with complex needs. It’s more than just a house; it’s a space built to inspire healing, growth, and belonging.
To help bring this vision to life, Loom Loft donated two Halken Sofas, a matching armchair, a footstool and two rugs, creating a warm and relaxing space for children and carers to spend time together. For the dining area, the home received an extendable Madrid Round Dining Table, paired with six Morden Dining Chairs in a vibrant mix of blue, mulberry, and grey — thoughtfully chosen to foster connection and comfort around mealtimes. These considered pieces are helping transform a blank canvas into a truly welcoming home.
“CANW is a non-profit charity on an exciting, new service delivery, opening our very first residential home,” said Tammy Sutherland, Service Residential Manager at CANW. “We are unbelievably grateful for such a significant donation of sofas and dining suites, helping to turn our house into a home. Our home is preparing to welcome three young people with complex needs and generosity like this will provide a homely environment needed for these young people. Once again, we thank Loom Loft for their incredible support.”
From the very first conversation, the team at CANW moved us with their heartfelt mission and the deep care behind this new project. Creating a safe, nurturing environment is what this home is all about — a place where young people can grow, and feel a true sense of belonging. We’re incredibly honoured to play even a small part in helping make that possible.
“Your incredible generosity has truly left us speechless,” added Georgia Murphy, Fundraising and Events Lead at CANW. “The impact you’re about to have on our charity, and more importantly, on the children who will soon call this beautiful home theirs, is simply immeasurable.”
At Loom Loft, community matters. Supporting local initiatives like this is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back and making a difference where it truly counts.
We can’t wait to see this special home come to life — from the first shared meals around the dining table to cosy evenings curled up on the sofa. Most of all, we look forward to the laughter, stories, and smiles of the young people who will soon fill it with love, warmth, and memories that last a lifetime.
