Living room furniture by piece

It's usually easiest to start with the piece you have in mind. Coffee tables is the largest part of the collection, spanning rectangular, round, oval and nesting designs, while TV and media units covers everything from compact stands to corner units and full entertainment walls.

Console tables works for hallways, landings and behind a sofa, lamp and side tables handles the smaller surfaces that make a room comfortable, and a nest of tables gives you flexible space when you entertain. For a working corner, desks has a small, considered selection.

Planning a room that hangs together

Layering is what stops a living room feeling flat. A coffee table anchors the seating, side tables put light and surfaces within reach of each chair, and a media unit gives the television a proper home rather than a stand. A rug underneath draws the whole group into one arrangement.

Storage is the other half of the job, and a sideboard or display cabinet takes on everything the tables shouldn't have to. Because most of the range is drawn from a shared set of collections, matching across pieces is straightforward, and the Marlborough range and Eclipse range both run across several of these pieces: furniture by collection shows what belongs with what.

Working with the space you have

In a smaller room, pieces that do more than one thing are worth prioritising: a nest of tables instead of one large coffee table, a slim console instead of a chest, a footstool that doubles as seating. Keeping legs visible and lines low helps a compact room feel more open.

Open-plan spaces have the opposite problem, needing furniture to define zones rather than fill them. A console behind a sofa or a low bookcase used as a divider does that neatly. Our open plan living ideas and living room ideas show both approaches, and sofas and chairs covers the seating that sits with it.
