Corner Dining
Corner dining is a clever answer to a kitchen that has always felt a little tight, tucking seating into the angle of two walls so the middle of the room stays clear.
At Loom Loft, you'll find corner dining sets pairing an L shaped bench with a table, in a choice of timber finishes and upholstered seats. Several ranges extend to matching stools and sideboards, with White Glove delivery available.
Why corner dining works so well in a kitchen
A corner bench uses the part of a room that usually goes to waste. Because nobody needs to pull a chair out backwards, you reclaim the walkway that four chairs would otherwise demand, which is why corner sets are such a natural fit for a kitchen-diner, a bay window or a galley layout with one open end. Bench seating also seats children very comfortably, since they can shuffle along rather than climb around.
As a general guide, allowing around 55 to 60cm per person along a bench keeps everyone comfortable. Benches are usually available left or right hand facing, so it is worth deciding early which way the long side should run against your walls.
How the sets are put together
Most corner dining is sold as a coordinated group, with the bench, the table and often a pair of stools designed together in the same finish. That takes the guesswork out of matching timbers and seat heights, and it means the whole corner arrives as one considered piece rather than as separate purchases that nearly go together.
Upholstered bench backs and seats add comfort for lingering over a long lunch, while plain timber benches keep the look pared back and are easy to wipe down. If you would rather build the arrangement yourself, our dining benches can be paired with a table of your choosing from our rectangular dining tables, and our dining chairs can make up the open side.
Ranges to look at
The sets here come from ranges that extend well beyond the dining corner, so a bench set can be echoed elsewhere in the room. The Lindell range covers corner bench sets alongside other dining and living pieces, and the Skelton range offers a similar arrangement in its own finish. The Lindell Corner Bench Set is available in left and right hand facing versions.
Measuring the corner carefully before you order is the single most useful thing you can do, including the skirting boards and any radiator that sits along one of the two walls. For layout ideas in open-plan rooms, our open plan living inspiration pages are worth a look, and the wider dining collection shows everything together.
