Sofa Beds
A sofa bed has to do two jobs well, and the good ones don't feel like a compromise on either. At Loom Loft, our sofa beds run from cuddlers and two seaters for a spare room through to three seaters and full corner groups with a bed built into one section. Every one is British made, in a wide choice of fabrics and velvets, so it reads as a proper sofa first and a bed only when you need it.

+Choosing by how often it will be slept in
This is the question that decides everything else. For occasional use, a couple of nights a year, a simpler mechanism in a smaller design is perfectly sensible and keeps the cost down. The Marton cuddler and the Furness and Crosby designs suit that job well.
For regular guests, or a room that doubles as a bedroom, it's worth moving up to a deluxe specification with a better mattress and a more substantial action. The Cartmel range offers deluxe sofabeds in both two and three seater widths, and its corner chaise version can be specified with a storage end stool for bedding, which solves the perennial problem of where the duvet lives.
Bed size and the room around it
Bed width matters more than sofa width once it's open. Several designs, including those in the Bethie and Venton ranges, open to a 120cm bed, which is comfortable for one and workable for two. Corner designs with a sofabed section tend to give the most generous sleeping space.
Leave room to open it. As a general guide, allow enough clear floor in front for the mechanism to extend fully, and check that a coffee table can be moved out of the way easily rather than lifted over. Covers, and what else to consider
The whole range is upholstered in fabric, with velvet options across several designs, which keeps it soft and warm for a room used as a bedroom. There are no leather sofa beds in the collection, so if leather is the priority it's worth looking at leather sofas and treating guest sleeping separately.
