Rectangular Dining Tables

+How to size a rectangular dining table
Allow around 60cm of table width per person so everyone has room for a place setting, then add space to pull chairs in and out comfortably. As a guide, a 140cm table seats four to six, 180cm seats six to eight, and longer tops or an extending dining table cover both everyday use and larger gatherings. Leave roughly a metre of clearance around the table where you can, so chairs and benches don't catch on walls or other furniture.
Tabletops and finishes
The tabletop sets the tone for the whole room. Wooden dining tables in solid oak and mango bring warmth and natural grain, while stone dining tables with sintered stone, ceramic and marble-effect tops offer a hard-wearing, heat- and scratch-resistant surface for daily use. Our most popular option, the Madrid dining tables, comes in several rectangular sizes and finishes, while the Marlborough dining table adds rustic, industrial character.
Complete the dining set
Once you've chosen a table, finish the look with matching seating. A run of dining chairs keeps things classic, or mix in a dining bench along one side for a relaxed, space-saving setup. If a rectangular shape isn't quite right for your room, it's worth comparing our round dining tables and square dining tables, which can suit smaller or more open-plan spaces.
