+How to choose dining chairs
Comfort comes down to the gap between seat and table. Most dining tables stand around 75cm tall, so a seat height of roughly 45-47cm leaves comfortable legroom. Decide whether you want armrests: carver chairs with arms make relaxed end-of-table seats, while armless designs slot in more easily down the sides and around tighter spaces. Swivel and cantilever styles add a modern touch and make it easier to get in and out. Note that several of our chairs, such as the Newark swivel dining chair, are sold in pairs.
Materials and upholstery
Your choice of cover changes both the look and the upkeep. Plush velvet dining seating feels luxurious, hard-wearing fabric designs suit everyday family use, easy-clean leather dining seating wipes down in seconds, and wooden dining seating brings a timeless, sturdy feel. The Canyon dining chair set of 2 is a good example, offered across velvets, fabrics and bonded leather.
Matching chairs to your table and seating
Pair your chairs with a rectangular dining table for a classic layout, or soften the arrangement by combining chairs with a dining bench along one side. For kitchen islands or higher tables, coordinate the finish with a couple of bar stools so the seating feels cohesive throughout the room.
