Why fabric suits a family room
Fabric brings a softness that harder finishes can't, and it's the reason so many living rooms start here. It holds warmth, it feels welcoming the moment you sit down, and the sheer breadth of weaves means you can go quiet and neutral or bold and textured without changing the shape of the chair.
Choice of weave is worth some thought. Flat weaves and plains read calm and contemporary, chenilles and bouclés add real depth and cosiness, and checks, stripes and patterns bring character to a plainer room.
