Fabric is where most sofa decisions start, and with good reason: it's warm to sit on from the moment you do, and the range of weaves and colours is far wider than any other cover. Most ranges come in several fabric grades, so the shape and the finish are separate decisions.
Weaves, grades and what they mean for you
Fabrics here are grouped into grades and bands, and the difference is partly durability and partly feel. Flat weaves and plains sit calm and contemporary and tend to show a shape's lines most clearly. Chenilles and bouclés add depth and cosiness and are more forgiving in a busy room. Checks, stripes and patterned bands bring character where the rest of the scheme is quiet.

Finding the right size and shape
Because the fabric collection is so broad, it's usually quicker to narrow by shape first. Corner sofas covers chaise, L and U shaped groups, modular sofas lets you build to the room, and recliner sofas brings together the reclining designs.
The price spread is wide, and it reflects real differences in frame, filling and fabric rather than just size. Where these sofas are made
A good number of these ranges are British made, and several are crafted in Italy. It's a distinction worth understanding rather than skimming: it tends to show in the frame construction, the tailoring of the cover and how well the shape holds after a few years of daily use.
